Deposit trends for many community banks have largely failed to keep up with the growth in bank assets. With this stagnation and decline in core deposits, banks have turned to fees, in particular overdraft fees. These fees and others are at risk of regulation. If members of congress have their way, such as Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., many current bank overdraft practices would be barred.
![]() Credit Unions and Mega Banks are eating into the small business market, a staple for community banks. That safe bet is eroding, like the car loan and mortgages. A partner who is in the business of marketing, leveraging technology at its core, will. Competing in today's market place requires a different kind of relationship. A website is part of that puzzle but it is just a piece.
