Where most companies who provide website development services fall short is in not communicating expectations to the client. In fact this poor communication leads to frustration on both sides of the relationship and not only can lead to scope creep but an end product without focus, purpose or an effective strategy. TheWEBcentric follows a clear step by step process for everything we do. Our process is not limited to website development and provides both the client and our staff and partners clear expectations and a clear desired outcome. For every client the detail within the steps we follow are defined by the goals of the project. Below are the steps that we journey through to give you an idea of what you can expect from a relationship with us.
| | DISCOVERY First, we need to establish your goals for the project, desired outcomes, ascetic taste, leadership roles, budget and other information to help us get off to a good start. What we discover defines the future of our relationship and the project outcome. | | | INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE Designing a site map does not drive results. For website development his phase is more than putting a flow chart together in Visio, it is about the purpose and strategy of what we are building and how the content will support the business goals. It is vital in this phase that we determine the blueprint of the final product. How many pages, subjects, functionality, technologies and vendors are what we dig into and relate back to the goals of the project. This step must take into account not only budget and your wish list, but more pragmatic things such as the longevity of the technology selected, the stability of vendors who may play a role and the process in which updates can take place. Just like building a house, I want to make sure that we have a plan that can be supported, maintained and justified. | | | DESIGN What every client waits for – the visual. Taking into account all the information discussed, gathered and absorbed up to this point and translating it into a visual format that is acceptable is the most challenging aspects of this process. We have so much to take into account when designing; technology, budget, audience. Our goal here is to reach a design that achieves the many things that are desired while allowing us to stay on budget as we take the design and implement it into a functioning tool. | | | BUILD Now that we have a design we move forward to apply it to the selected media. Whether our focus is targeted to print, video, audio or the internet our design has been created to take into account a broad range of existing and future media that may be used to ensure brand consistency. At the end of this phase we will have a piece of work that you can interact with. | | | LAUNCH During the launch phase we follow a 3 step process: Beta, Soft Launch and Launch. Please read our Stages of Launch article for more information. Once we are in the final stage of the launch process we are ready for the world to see. The website is posted, the media is distributed and the print collateral is delivered. Our work is visible for the public to experience. The launch phase is unique to the type of project, whether a print brochure or a blog. | | | EVALUATE Where most people leave the project I stay and evaluate the project development and more importantly customer feedback. No project is ever done. It is my job to learn what we can do better next time and what the customer wants to see next.
